Many people have misconceptions about tankless water heaters that turn out to be false. There are differences between traditional and tankless water heaters, and no matter which kind you have, it’s always good to have the facts right! If you need to replace or repair your water heater down the road, it never hurts to be prepared with the correct knowledge. So, read on as we debunk common myths about tankless water heaters.

Myth 1: They Cost More to Operate than Traditional Heaters

It’s true that when you purchase a tankless water heater system you can expect to pay more than for a traditional tank water heater. However, they more than make up for their higher price point by saving you money on your utility bills. They work differently than their counterparts, and since they don’t store hot water when you don’t need it, they cost less to operate than tank water heaters.

Myth 2: They Don’t Supply Enough Hot Water

A common misconception is that tankless heaters don’t provide enough hot water because there isn’t a big tank filled with it. In reality, tankless water heaters provide plenty of hot water. When the faucet or shower is turned on, the water moves over a heating element and flows through the system to the consumer. As long as everything is working properly, there should be no shortage of hot water.

Myth 3: All Tankless Water Heaters are Basically the Same

There are actually many different types of tankless heaters! They can range in price, energy-efficiency, and the installation process is not the same across the board. Different brands offer different products and based on you and your family’s needs you can choose the tankless water heater that will meet those needs (and fit your budget!).

Myth 4: It’s Hard to Control the Water Temperature

Some people believe that the heating mechanisms in tankless heaters can over-heat or under-heat water, leading to a scalding or cold shower. But, these types of water heaters have adjustable thermostats just like other types of heaters do. You can adjust it to fit your preference and don’t have to worry about burning hot water coming through the shower head!
