At Sun Plumbing, we understand that when you think of plumbing repairs, you probably immediately think of how much money it is going to cost you. You may be pleasantly surprised to learn that you may be eligible for a rebate for your plumbing repairs, putting a little money back into your bank account. That should have gotten your attention!
Water Heaters
If you have never experienced your water heater breaking, count yourself lucky. An Indialantic resident shares her story:
“My husband was out of town and I was getting ready to leave for church with our young son. When I walked out to the car, I saw water coming out from under our garage door! I ran back inside the house, into the garage, and discovered that our water heater had been leaking. I called my husband, who told me how to turn off the water heater. What a mess! I had wondered why my shower was only lukewarm that morning. Boy, did I find out!”
As you can see, a malfunctioning or “dead” water heater is no fun! But if you want hot water in your house, a water heater is a must. If it is time to replace yours, take heart. You may receive a rebate. If you live in an area that has Florida City Gas, you could receive a sizeable rebate.
Why are these rebates given?
Florida City Gas wants to encourage residents to replace old units with more energy-efficient units. Your rebate for a water heater could be $350-$500, and if you have a tankless water heater installed, you could receive $550-$675! Now you have hot water again, and your bank account didn’t take as big of a hit as you expected!
Toilets
Both the City of Melbourne and the City of Titusville offer $50 rebates for having a low-flush toilet installed. You should check with your city to find out which toilets qualify before making your toilet purchase. If your toilet was manufactured in the 1990s or earlier, then it may be time to replace it. Older toilets used approximately seven gallons of water PER FLUSH! That’s a lot of water. The low-flush toilets use only 1.6 gallons per flush. This is much more efficient and better for water conservation.
