Whether it’s due to wear and tear or simply time to update your fixtures, choosing new faucets can be a daunting task. Have you been down the faucet aisle of Lowe’s lately? There’s a lot to choose from! There are many different brands, finishes, and styles. It’s important to understand the differences so that you can choose the faucets that are right for you. Don’t just pick the one that looks the prettiest. It may not be the best. Do a little research (we will provide some in this article), and go to the store informed and ready to buy!
Moen, Koehler, and Delta are three of the top faucet brands available in the market today. These brands offer faucets that the average family can afford. While there are also high-end faucets available, Moen, Koehler, and Delta are known to be durable, reliable, affordable, and innovative.
At Sun Plumbing, we know that choosing the right faucets matters to you! Unlike your master bedroom curtains, faucets are something that everyone who enters your home is going to see and probably use. Your kitchen sink and guest bathroom are used by family AND guests, after all. This article will explore different brands to help you make a more informed decision. We are not sponsoring or promoting any brands. We will simply share some information with you that you may find useful the next time you have to buy new faucets!
Moen and Kohler
We have grouped these two brands together because in a survey of over 5,000 people, these two brands almost tied for the most trusted faucet brands with Moen taking the #1 spot by 0.2 points over Kohler. Trust doesn’t necessarily mean best, but if a brand is trusted, it has usually earned that trust over a period of time because of good performance. People do have a tendency to get stuck in their ways and stick with brands they trust. Over time, those brands may no longer be the best even though they are still considered “trusted brands.” So, let’s look a bit deeper.
There are high-end brands that may be higher quality than the brands you will typically find at your local supply store or distributor. For the purpose of this article, we are looking at brands that are familiar to most people and within the average family’s budget. If you want to spend $2000 on a kitchen faucet made in Germany, you certainly can! But most people don’t, so we will leave those faucets out of this discussion.
We think the most important thing to know about Moen faucets which really makes them stand out is their lifetime warranty. Recently, a family in Indialantic needed their guest bathroom’s shower control handle replaced. When their plumber spoke to them over the phone, he asked if it was a Moen. Because of his experience, he was able to tell them which parts he would need to repair it. He told them to call Moen and request the parts for free! They had no idea Moen offered an amazing lifetime warranty! When the parts arrived, he fixed their faucet for the cost of labor, no charge for parts, thanks to his honesty and Moen’s warranty. While there, he noticed that the bathtub faucet had some oxidation or hard water damage. It worked fine, but he let them know that if they wanted to replace it to just request it from Moen! In our opinion, their lifetime warranty solidifies them as the top spot. Oh, and just to sweeten the deal even more, when the Indialantic residents called Moen, they spoke to a representative not an automated service!
Lest it seem like Kohler is getting the short end of the stick here, we should mention they do offer a warranty. In our research it seems that Moen’s warranty may be a little more extensive. Overall, either brand is a solid choice. It then comes down to preference regarding style and finish (shiny, matte, black, etc.).
Delta
Delta came in third in the above-mentioned survey of most trusted faucet brands. Delta may have the broadest price spectrum of the three brands, allowing the budget-conscious shopper to find what they need, as well as those willing to pay higher-end prices. Delta also offers a warranty. Delta may be a good choice for those who are eco-conscious as many of their designs have this in mind. They offer models designed to use less water, promoting water conservation (and potentially saving you money on your water bill).
Summary
The next time you need or choose to replace a faucet, bear in mind what you have read in this article. Moen, Kohler, and Delta are all brands that should be an excellent choice for your faucets.
