Water Heaters can be our best friend and worst enemy at the same time. There are many protocols you should take when maintaining your water heater to ensure maximum durability. Your Melbourne, Florida plumber wants to share some of these tips with you.

  1. In your electric panel, turn OFF the circuit breaker marked water heater. If your water heater is Gas, turn OFF your Gas supply valve.
  2. Close the Cold Water supply valve to the water heater.
  3. Attach a garden hose to the drain valve at the bottom of heater; extend the hose outside, open the drain valve and any hot water faucet in the house. Allow the water heater to fully empty of water.
  4. Measure the dimensions of your heater (height & diameter) and find the manufacturer’s information sticker. It will tell you how many gallons your water heater is, the electric voltage, or type of gas. This will allow us to bring the correct replacement unit.
