Old bathroom in need of bathroom remodel

You may have noticed in talking with friends and family that many are stuck at home during the pandemic and using this time to work on home improvement projects. These projects may be as small as catching up on weeding the yard to as large as building an addition onto the house. One of the most common projects homeowners choose to do is bathroom remodeling

There are multiple reasons and motivations for doing a project of this magnitude. Not only do our bathrooms get a LOT of use, but they are also among the most important rooms buyers look at when you are selling your home. Remember, the more people living in your home, the more use they get.

Because of our high humidity and proximity to the beautiful beach, Space Coast residents often take multiple showers per day. Think about how many times per day your bathroom gets used for showering, washing hands (especially during the pandemic!), or toilet use. Your bathroom might need a little TLC!

Here are some of the most common reasons to remodel your bathroom. Unless you are a contractor, then some of these projects are a bit much to take on as do-it-yourself (DIY) projects!

Updating the Bathroom

Bathroom styles, just like those in other rooms in your home, can change over time and are simply outdated. Maybe you still have the old pink, blue, or green tile, tub, and toilet. If so, it is probably time to update. While vintage can be considered trendy, it can also be old and worn, depending on its condition!

A bathroom renovation might be as easy as painting the walls a different color and updating the fixtures to refresh the look, or it could require a complete tear out of everything from the vanity and cabinets to the tub and flooring.

Improving Utility and Overall Energy Efficiency

Sometimes, you need to increase your utility or energy efficiency. Maybe you want to add more storage, install water-saving devices, or improve ventilation. You might desire more cabinets, a double sink, walk-in shower with low-flow showerheads, or a bidet.

Why stop there? Enhance your overall energy efficiency by installing LED lights or a ventilation fan. You can make these utility and energy-efficient changes on their own or as part of a larger bathroom remodel.

Adding or Enlarging a Bathroom

Sometimes homeowners need to add a bathroom to the home or enlarge existing bathrooms to help accommodate everyone living under one roof. A larger bathroom may serve the purpose of allowing multiple people to get ready for school or work at the same time.

One way to expand a bathroom is to enlarge a half bath by adding a shower. You also might add a tub to a shower. Adding or expanding a bathroom can significantly add value to your home.

Calling in the Bathroom Remodel Professionals

If any of these scenarios sound familiar, then it may be time for you to consider a bathroom remodel! Sometimes these remodels are aesthetics only. But, occasionally, you will find old bathrooms also contain old pipes that need repairing or replacing.

Even if pipes don’t need replacing, properly hooking up sinks, installing showerheads, and sealing toilets are jobs that should be completed with precision to avoid leaks and destroying your beautiful new bathroom. These are tasks for a professional.
